MILITOPIA

by Scott Macmann

Remember, remember… September 7th, 2001.

The date that changed everything.

In a near-future America where every man, woman, and child serves, there are no civilians—everyone belongs and no one is left behind, even if they want to be. Thirty years of war with Russia have forged a nation defined by discipline, unity, and purpose. And sustained by the belief that duty must endure.

To those who believe, it’s not dystopia. It’s Utopia.

Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Smith has spent his life believing. His cadet captain daughter Karen at The Ohio State Military University already believes. But Lieutenant Colonel “Crazy Tom” Prescott? He’s tired of believing.

MILITOPIA is a story about family, leadership, choices, and consequences. After thirty years of war, something has to give—and it may be the Smith family that gives everything.

Even in Utopia, babies will cry.

Scott Macmann helped win the Cold War as a U.S. Army infantry and intelligence officer during the 1980s and 1990s. Stationed in West Germany when the Berlin Wall fell, he watched it on television like everyone else.

Seeing that the Good Old Days of bipolar mutual assured destruction were gone, following the First Gulf War he accepted a voluntary separation package and returned home to Cincinnati for quieter pursuits that included making money and fiction writing, although these rarely came from the same activities.

His prose and verse have been published on three continents. His fiction blends military, political, social and psychological themes with a satirical touch. He enthusiastically participates in local writer groups, and currently serves as President of the Cincinnati Fiction Writers.
