About Submissions

Adventure Around Every Corner

Dragon Street Press (DSP) is currently open to fiction submissions.

We believe in critical thinking, the power of imagination, the value of knowledge, and the intrinsic worth of every member of our communities. We expect our fiction to reflect this.

We publish fiction of high quality with special emphasis on speculative genres such as fantasy, science fiction, alternate history and dystopia. We are however open-minded so long as it meets our above expectations. Great stories are great stories.

DSP is highly selective. Your submission should be complete, polished and closely edited. Alpha and Beta readers should be part of your process prior to submission.

Novel-length Fiction

DSP seeks completed novel-length fiction of approximately 60,000 – 90,000 words (depending on genre). As noted above, we are particularly fond of science fiction, fantasy and speculative works. We are very much willing to look at expansive explorations of those themes.

Complete submissions include an elevator pitch, a query letter, a synopsis, and a disclosure of content triggers. Only one (1) novel-length submission per author may be under review at a time.

Short Fiction

DSP seeks short fiction submissions of 1,000 – 10,000 words for inclusion in our DSP Anthology Series. You may combine one or more stories to meet the word count. Flash fiction? Short-short fiction? Let’s see it. We love storytelling.

The window for Grab Bag #3 closed February 28th, 2025. But the good news is the submission window for Grab Bag #4 opens on November 1st, 2025.

Our Grab Bag Anthology Series features science fiction, fantasy, and also speculative themes (such as dystopian, horror, psychological, experimental). We encourage you to review the series for yourself to see if your story might be a good fit. Note: future anthologies may explore other genres, too. Stay alert.

Complete submissions include an elevator pitch, a brief synopsis, and a disclosure of content triggers. At this time only (1) submission per author may be under review at a time, but again you may submit multiple stories in that submission.

Note: as a very small press, short fiction compensation is currently in the form of digital copies of any anthology in which your work appears. But we will keep your information in the hope that someday we will be able to offer something better than that to you retroactively.

What we can and will do for you is take good care of any fiction accepted, and present your story in the best light possible.
